JOB DUTIES INCLUDE:

 

The Steeler Outside Sales Representative is responsible for all activities within his/her assigned territory that relate to:

 

  1. Maintaining/improving sales and service to existing Steeler customers, seeing each customer a minimum of once per week

 

  1. Increasing Steelers’ customer base through continuous prospecting

 

 

  1. Assuring excellent customer satisfaction with products and deliveries by 1): Successfully communicating with branch team members to facilitate on-time and satisfactory deliveries, and 2): Seeking/monitoring customer feedback after delivery

 

Activities:

 

Daily

 

  • Daily Branch Manager Call – communicate to Branch Manager on a daily basis to disclose daily plan and progress report

 

  • Split your territory into 4 zones. Each zone will have 8 – 12 customers (STDAFO’s). STDAFO is an acronym which means Show, Tell, Demonstrate and Ask For Order.  Create an approved Itinerary (using an online map service) for each zone, consisting of printed routes from each STDAFO to the next with the approximate time and distance for each route, allowing 30 minutes for each STDAFO

 

  • Use the Itinerary to create a printed Geographical Work Plan (map of zone with pinpoints for each STDAFO)

 

  • Daily STDAFO’s – Minimum of 8 existing and potential customer face-to-face STDAFO’s per day (4 days per week)

 

o    Promote all Steeler product lines, including Smooth Products, using product samples

 

    • Bid on jobs and present bid packages to customers

 

 

  • Daily Call Reports – Document the time each workday starts and ends, as well as the times and details of each STDAFO

 

  • Daily Fuel Card & Mileage Reports – Document daily mileage (start & end) related to each STDAFO

 

Weekly

 

  1. Office Day – One full day each week spent at Branch Office doing Value-Added admin tasks such as STDAFO planning (Weekly Call Plan and driving route maps to minimize travel-time and gas expense), bids, e-mails, DODGE Reports and feedback (Devin), credit issues, team building, and Branch Mgr updates and reports

 

  1. New Customer Report – 1 new customer sale per week (minimum of 2-4 new customer sales per month)

 

  1. CRM – detailed documentation and input of each customer interaction and conversation

 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

3-5 years proven successful sales experience

Construction industry experience required
Steel, building material or drywall experience is strongly preferred
Strong closing skills are required
Associates Degree preferred
Must posses a valid driver's license with no major traffic violations
Ability to work a minimum of 45 hours per week
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Knowledge of MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook
