Your Cheat Sheet for Answering the "How Many...?" Question

How many screws should I use per stud? How many boxes of joint treatment will I need? This post is dedicated to giving you the baseline answer to those questions and more.

Materials Needed:

Stud 4 framing screws per stud
Track 1 pin every 2 feet
Drywall Screws 1-1/4 to 1-1/2 screws per square foot
One 4' x 8' Sheet of Drywall 48 drywall screws
One 4' x 12' Sheet of Drywall 64 drywall screws
Joint Treatment - Readymix 3 boxes per 1,000 sq ft
Joint Treatment - Lite Hot Muds (18# bag) 3 bags per 1,000 sq ft
Wall Texture 2 bags per 1,000 sq ft
Joint Tape (500' roll) 1 roll every 1,350 sq ft of drywall
Drywall Adhesive (29 oz tubes) 31 tubes per 1,000 sq ft
Drywall (per thousand square feet)

4' x 8': 32 sheets

4' x 9': 28 sheets

4' x 10': 25 sheets

4' x 12': 21 sheets

Typical Tools Needed:
T‐Square (48” or 54”), Tape Measure, Utility Knife, Drywall Saw, Screwgun and/or Drywall
Hammer, Mud Mixer & Paddle, Mud Pan, Drywall Knives, Sanding Sponge & Sand Paper, Floor
Paper, Masking Paper, Plastic Sheeting
